Child Birth!

Posted on: August 27, 2008

Name has been changed to protect privacy! I was sweating heavily with my heart thumping madly! I was literally scared of the prof. taking gynaec viva. She was a terror! :(

And the person who was going to be next for the bombardment of the questions was a chronic (he was appearing for the exams for so long that he had forgotten the count!!). Such calmness I have seen only on Lord Buddha’s face!

My viva was suppose to be just after him, so I was very keen to know the questions, just to get lead and feel of examiner’s mood!

Prof: So, you are back again, hun!

chronic: *gives silly smile*

Prof: How many times have I seen you here?

Chronic: *gives silly smile*

Prof: Ok, Ok tell me the stages of labour.

Chronic: *blank look*

Prof: Stages of labour?

she hands over a dummy pelvis and a doll for him to show the stages of labour.

Chronic: *mumbles something under his breath and shows the passage of the doll through the pelvic cage!*

Prof. probably couldn’t hear anything and the passage was so fast that she had to ask him to do it again.

Prof: Can you please repeat that?

Chronic (With the straigthest face ever made in the history!): Once the baby comes out, never goes in!

Hey, nice blog. I discovered your blog today and am adding you to my blogroll.
This post brings back memories of my MBBS days and vivas. And the jokes. One chronic could enumerate only one endocrine gland: salivary gland, he said. I was sitting terrified, as I was next. The external asked him if he planned to become a karodpati by selling his thuk (saliva).
And you know that one about the examiner asking student to identify viscera (uterus)?
I wish I had written all those jokes down, now I have forgotten most of them.

Heh heh – to touch and feel…

Viscera joke- well I don’t know whether it is an old joke or it is a real event of our college.
Our anatomy dept had a lady lecturer (LL) too. So the story goes that the student was taking his viva- and the male external (ME) and LL were on the viscera table.
So ME gave the student a viscera, that was the uterus, and asked him to hold it in anatomical position and etc, you know. The guy could not identify the viscera, how much ever he tried. So ME prompted, ‘Ma’am here has it, you don’t have it, I don’t have it.. guess, what is it?’ Student replied with a wide eyed look, ‘Brain?”

I have been wanting to write posts on life as a medico topic since long, but actually, I am not much of a writer. It is nice to read your posts.
Keep Blogging!

guess this is one of those typical “doctor” jokes! I’ve heard that doctors also crack a lot of non-veg jokes…or is it only the boys? 🙂

Like

@Nita: Everyone cracks all kinds of Jokes in their close circle…. I don’t think there should be any gender discrimination 😉 when it comes to humor. 🙂

While, Doctors must be having a technical/biological version of non-veg jokes we crack… 😉

What say Sakhi ?

We are all ears to the technical answers of your students… Bataa na kabhi… Mazaa aayega!! 🙂

@ Nita

Non-veg? you think this was non-veg? Then you should listen to what doctors can really talk!! 😉 🙂

But yes we do talk in technical terms!! 🙂 🙂

and i agree with anshul, i have heard housewives cracking such jokes which i have never heard from anybody! i would get beetroot red but they would just laugh away to glory 🙂 🙂 so humour has nothing to do with gender!

@ anshul

absolutely agree! No gender bias!! 😉 😀 and we definately use our own terminologies 🙂 😀
